JAPAN - The Land of The Rising Sun
Since time immortal, this kingdom was sealed off to outsiders, and only began to allow outsiders and trading in 1853.
Since then, Japan went from an agrigarian culture to a world leader/superpower in technology AND the ski/snowboard industry.
The North Island, ‘Hokkaido,’ where this photograph was shot, gets an average of 45+ feet of snow each winter, but it’s true champagne powder - not the “Sierra Cement” we know here in California.
This photo was created at an abandoned ski resort while I was alone on the mountain with a friend from Truckee, scouting for an upcoming photoshoot for Cardiff Snowcraft.
